Project Design 2013: Ronald McDonald House of Long Island

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to join bloggers, designers, and volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island to preview Project Design 2013.   It was wonderful to experience the results of the many hours of hard work and generosity contributed by many, many hearts and hands.

With the help of generous leaders in the interior design industry, including Kravet Inc. and NYC&G (New York Cottages & Gardens) magazine, the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island’s original 18 bedrooms, kitchens, breakfast rooms and five common areas underwent a complete re-design to provide better comfort to the 1,000 plus families it serves each year.

WELCOME!  HOME AWAY FROM HOME

The mission of The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is to give comfort and shelter to families experiencing the pain of having a sick child in local hospital facilities. A “home away from home”, the House provides the parents and siblings of these children with a temporary haven in a secure and comfortable environment among other families sharing a similar burden.

The house has grown to accommodate the increasing demands to help families in need:  kitchens,  laundry facilities,  Kosher kitchens, a library, playroom, media room and numerous indoor and outdoor common areas.
