What’s New What’s Next: Lexington Home Brands

Look through the new Aquarius Collection by Lexington Home Brands and I’m sure you’ll find a unique statement piece for your home that fits your personal style.  The Aquarius Collection has a diverse assortment and includes over 100 items representing both casegoods and custom upholstered seating.

My personal favorite in the showroom was the Aria Chest.   I love the tangerine leather drawer fronts, mahogany trim in a dark walnut finish, solid brass hardware in a bright brass finish, top and end panels, and 5 drawers .  The top drawer is felt lined with a divided jewelry tray.  This certainly is a piece of art.  Total bliss.   Catch me on  Editor TV previewing this beautiful piece at the D&D Building.

The Brunschwig & Fils showroom at the D&D building has this hot number.  I saw it back in May during Blogfest2012. The gorgeous upholstery is still on my mind.

What’s New – What’s Next

Last night at the New York Design Center the interior design industry celebrated What’s New, What’s Next in ideas, design, materials and products.   The hallways were buzzing with excitement.  There were 55 participating showrooms, including lectures and book signings.

I had the pleasure of joining others at Century Furniture for a presentation with Charlotte Moss and Newell Turner, Editor in Chief of House Beautiful: How do you create your own design archive? Collage — from scrapbooks to Pinterest. Charlotte Moss shared that scrap booking is her “unwind.” On her bike, kayak or walk, she always has a camera. Walking and getting lost, feeds her eyes. She recommends stepping away and looking at everyday objects we walk by and don’t take in and appreciate. Did you know, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Matisse, and Picasso  all had scrapbooks?  Whether you cut and paste, like Charlotte prefers, or digital scrapbook, using Pinterest, you’ll find peace of mind creating something that will endure in a scrapbook.  I’m looking forward to picking up Charlotte’s new book, Charlotte Moss: A Visual Life: Srapbooks, Collages, and Inspirations.

 Thanks for stopping by.

Cozy Up

Similar to pillows, a throw is an easy and inexpensive decorating accessory to add  color and texture to your room.  Now that the cool days and nights have arrived, it’s a must have.  With some many to choose from, I’m sure you’ll find one to fit your budget and style.

Greek Key Inspiration

Welcome back.  Hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend.

I was looking through some images over the long weekend and came across these beautiful images of great Greek key style.  The Greek key is something I’ve not yet incorporated into my home decor; I think it’s time.  These three designers bring the Greek key into their design with high style.

Suzie: Tobi Fairley - Eclectic white & blue foyer with settee upholstered in white & blue greek ...

Tobi Fairley designs are always exciting.  I love her use of color and pattern.

Green is back.  This is a winning combination of green and gray by designer Cristi Holcombe.

Grant Gibson uses classic neutrals in the bathroom,  which are always inviting.  I love this darling sink skirt.

That Little Chair

I like to collect chairs.  This week a chair in the corner of the antique shop was calling my name.  Not really, I don’t hear voices yet.  The cane seat immediately caught my eye.    The chair brought a smile to my face.   Caning is a method of weaving chair seats.  These days caning is a lost art.

Caning is dear and close to my heart because my parents once weaved seats for a living in the Dominican Republic.  My dad passed away from Cancer 14 years ago.  I cherish every memory  of my dad.  When I look at the chair, it reminds me of my childhood and my love for my parents who worked hard for a better life for our family.     The little chair has a new home now.   I appreciate all the hands it took to make it.

Congratulations to Steph, Christy and Barbara.  They are the winners of my anniversary giveaway.
