That Little Chair

I like to collect chairs.  This week a chair in the corner of the antique shop was calling my name.  Not really, I don’t hear voices yet.  The cane seat immediately caught my eye.    The chair brought a smile to my face.   Caning is a method of weaving chair seats.  These days caning is a lost art.

Caning is dear and close to my heart because my parents once weaved seats for a living in the Dominican Republic.  My dad passed away from Cancer 14 years ago.  I cherish every memory  of my dad.  When I look at the chair, it reminds me of my childhood and my love for my parents who worked hard for a better life for our family.     The little chair has a new home now.   I appreciate all the hands it took to make it.

Congratulations to Steph, Christy and Barbara.  They are the winners of my anniversary giveaway.
