What’s New – What’s Next

Last night at the New York Design Center the interior design industry celebrated What’s New, What’s Next in ideas, design, materials and products.   The hallways were buzzing with excitement.  There were 55 participating showrooms, including lectures and book signings.

I had the pleasure of joining others at Century Furniture for a presentation with Charlotte Moss and Newell Turner, Editor in Chief of House Beautiful: How do you create your own design archive? Collage — from scrapbooks to Pinterest. Charlotte Moss shared that scrap booking is her “unwind.” On her bike, kayak or walk, she always has a camera. Walking and getting lost, feeds her eyes. She recommends stepping away and looking at everyday objects we walk by and don’t take in and appreciate. Did you know, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Matisse, and Picasso  all had scrapbooks?  Whether you cut and paste, like Charlotte prefers, or digital scrapbook, using Pinterest, you’ll find peace of mind creating something that will endure in a scrapbook.  I’m looking forward to picking up Charlotte’s new book, Charlotte Moss: A Visual Life: Srapbooks, Collages, and Inspirations.

 Thanks for stopping by.
