After years of moving and renting, we bought a house 4 months ago. The house has good bones and we are finally feeling settled. With the arrival of spring, I feel re-energized.
There is so much to do in every room of the house to make it home. Where do I start? I’ve gone back and forth as to which room should be first. To keep my home and work in order I decided to make a small room my office. When I heard Linda at Calling It Home blog was having a Spring 2016 One Room Challenge I jumped at the chance to participate. What could be more fun than decorating with a list of bloggers and decorators who have inspired me throughout my four years of blogging. There are a few rules: I have six weeks to complete and transform my room. Every Thursday I will post and update you on my progress.
In case you are not familiar with Linda’s One Room Challenge at Calling It Home, it is a semi-annual event where featured bloggers and participant bloggers link up and transform a room in six weeks.
ONE ROOM CHALLENGE – WEEK ONE
Here we go! The room for my office is approximately 9 ft X 11 ft. Before moving into the house, I had the wall-to-wall carpet removed. We installed new wood floors. While we had the floor workers in the house we decided to sand all the floors of the house and stain them to be consistent.
Nothing has been bought or ordered. I am excited to have an office at home. For my One Room Challenge office space, I have gathered a few inspiration images.
Inspired by fashion and decor… pink, animal print, pretty and masculine details.
I love a good mix of old and new furniture pieces in a room. A room should have soul and is achieved by incorporating the things we love.
Art layers a room and gives it interest. I have no budget for an expensive art collection, but I do have a few little pieces I have purchased at flea markets over the years.
Come back to see each week’s post. Follow me @idhomedecor on Instagram and Twitter #oneroomchallenge where I will be sharing more photos between posts each week.
Thanks for stopping by.
