One of the highlights of Blogfest was meeting Newell Turner, Editor-in-Chief of House Beautiful. He is a charming man. He gave us a little challenge. He invited bloggers to share an “a-ha moment. ”
My “aha moment” inspired by House Beautiful is our little home. I believe every house could be beautiful. A job relocation gave me two days to find a house for the family. I remember bringing the kids to the new house and thinking, “did I make a big mistake.” At approximately 1400 sq.ft., this house is less than half the size of our previous home. What matters to me is that our family is together. I wanted to make new memories in the house. For the first few months, I did not decorate. We lived in the house without one picture on the wall. I then challenged my self to turn this old house into a quaint home for all to enjoy. With a small budget, some diy projects, and flea market finds, I turned a cold empty space to an inviting place for the family.
Living in the present and appreciating family and the people around me is very important. Meeting the Kravet family reinforced the significance of family and commitment to your craft. I saw a sign this weekend that speaks volumes: Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.
Thank you for stopping by.
