How to Make Your Home Smell Amazing for the Holidays

pomander 3

Fresh and dried spices are plentiful in my mom’s kitchen.  In my home, I carry on the tradition with the fresh natural scents of the holidays.  Are you looking to fill your home with the sweet fragrance of the holiday season without the candles? The smell of cloves and oranges smells heavenly.  It seems the cloves help preserve the orange as it dries and acts as an anti-microbial.

Pomanders make a lovely holiday decoration and can last up to a year if they dry out without getting moldy.

To make a pomander you will need a toothpick, orange, lemon or other firm citrus, stemmed cloves.  Decide on an pattern.  Poke a hole with the tooth pick and insert stemmed clove.  For quick even drying, add orrisroot in reasealable plastic bag,  shake until orange is coated.

A blue and white porcelain bowl is classic and colorful.   The kitchen smells amazing.  I also made pomanders for the front door hall to greet holiday guest.
