Bright, Yellow Kitchen

Happy New Year!    We are off to a bright start.   The January cover of  Martha Stewart Living and the  February cover of  House Beautiful, both  feature yellow kitchens.   In House Beautiful,  Designer Lindsey Coral Harper use of  “shocking” yellow walls in the kitchen reminds me of summer days.   I love yellow in the kitchen — it’s like being greeted with a bright, cheerful smile, when I walk in to start breakfast.

On a dreary winter day,  walking  into a room with a little yellow is like a burst of sunshine.  It reminds me that warm, sunny days are ahead.   If you’re nervous about incorporating yellow in your home, start really small — add a  bouquet of yellow roses, paint a mirror,  add a pillow or give an old dresser new life.
