Hampton Designer Showhouse

After several days of rain in the Northeast,  I made my escape to Long Island, NY at the next sunny forecast.   I was on a mission to get some sunshine and see and hear the ocean waves.  But before I could do so, I  had to stop at the designer showhouse in Bridgehampton.  The showhouse is presented by Traditional Home to benefit the Southhampton Hospital.   I was glad to support a great cause and have fun looking at the designers’ work.  The house was impeccably decorated. The designers did a fabulous job.   The tour volunteers were friendly and enjoyed answering questions.

Special thanks to Donald Schermerhorn, Designer.  His work  is featured at the showhouse.  His firm is Schermerhorn Interior Design in New York, New York.  Thank you for taking the time to chat with us and pose for a picture.  My attention was drawn to his gallery of wooden frames on the wall — unified squares of brush samples (you have to see it to appreciate it).  The frames bring texture and interest to his sleek, relaxing, colorful room.  It shows that simple ideas can make a big impact.   I also love the white, overhead fan.  The fan was modern and sexy.  I know, who finds a fan sexy.  To see more of his designs go to donaldschermerhorn.com.

The showhouse is  open daily Monday to Sunday–Sunday July 24 to September 4 –11AM to 5PM.  hamptondesignershowhouse.com .  Grab a friend and make it a weekend.  While you’re there head out to Hither Hills State Park in Montauk.   The beach is beautiful.   There are showers and a concession stand.   Make a stop in Amagansett, at Mary’s Marvelous –for some fresh muffins, cookies, and sandwiches.

For a late lunch or dinner stop at Bostwick (Zagat rated) bostwickschowderhouse.com, for fresh seafood in a casual setting.   There are great stores and antiques along Route 27 –so wear comfortable shoes.  Thanks Lauren for posing.

On my way home I stopped by for gas and met Tracey Tooker, as in Tracey Tooker hats.   Tracey’s hats have been worn by celebraties  Aretha Franklin, Bianca Jagger, Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, Martha Stewart, Barbara Walters and Vera Wang to name a few.   We chatted about Florida and the Northeast before heading back in our cars.  To find out more about Tracey’s hats, visit traceytookerhats.com.

It was a wonderful trip.  Thanks a million Paul & Emily for your kind hospitality!
