Happy Veterans Day!
It’s Friday, you know what that means. It’s my HomeGoods Pick of the Week.
I picked up these salad/dessert plates for $3.99/each. They’re microwave and dishwasher safe. The glasses are also from HomeGoods $2.99 and $2.00. Sometimes finding the right tablecloth color is difficult and expensive. Layer your table with a pretty scarf instead. They come in a rainbow of colors now. The orange scarf is new from Greene Street Consignment in Princeton . A quick table setting for champagne and chocolate cake with a few friends.
Came across this fabric with deer antlers. Would look great in a study — window treatments, pillows, seat cushion. I recently picked up some deer antlers for a project and found a helpful video on how to mount them. Search www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8jWpG7EXUU, Co-Host Ralph Scherder.

One of my secret places to find vintage and unique finds is The Golden Nugget Antique Market, located in Lambertville, NJ. Here you’ll find just about everything — furniture, paintings, jewelry, home decor, retro and vintage and a whole lot more. Visit their website for more details at www.gnmarket.com. Wear comfortable shoes and pack a lunch.

One of a kind key ring/napkin ring, made from silver spoons. Makes a great hostess gift.
Taylorton China, $20: Couldn’t resist the robin blue cups.

Like pink? Feel happy walking into this foyer.

Damask is one of my favorite patterns. I like this relaxed formal entry.

A more neutral combination. Great dresser to put your keys and mail away as you come in the door. A draw for hats, gloves, scarfs……

Try the unexpected. Use a round table.

It’s all in the details. Beautiful molding, floor stencil, stair runner. Remember to place one item under the table… ginger jar, basket, plant.

Freshen up your entryway with a great mirror and fresh flowers. Like the painted floors? Painting your floors is an easy way to add another decorative element. The half table works for a small space. If your entryway is smaller, another alternative is a shelf with a decorative cornice, add a small vase with fresh flowers and a beautiful mirror.

Came across this simple, beautiful pine cone wreath (ribbon not included) from Horchow, the cost $200. While at the Home Depot, I found a similar pine cone wreath from Martha Stewart under $24.
My trip to HomeGoods never disappoints me. This time I gravitated to the lighting section. Perhaps, I was influenced by the fun colors in John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon color-rich interiors in the Tastemaker Tag Sale on One Kings Lane last night. Maybe it was because before moving to the Northeast, I lived in Tampa, FL for two years. As the cold weather sets in, I’m wishing for summer temperatures and the bright rich colors it brings. This week I am showing a few lamps, instead of just one item. I hope it inspires you to bring some fun, cheerful colors into your home, especially those of us in living in cold climates.
