Style Library: Fabric and Wallpaper

Love the look of a gallery wall?  I do, too. When I saw Sanderson’s wallpaper at Style Library, I had to share it. Getting a gallery wall could be as easy as hanging wallpaper. Inspired by nature, it has botanically drawn organic forms of corals shells, birds, and feathers.  Applied in a corridor or small bathroom, paired with a trellis print would make a great pairing.

Rome fabric by Zoffany also caught my eye.  Scenes from famous classic landmarks in Rome are beautifully printed with cityscape and historic details making it sophisticated, yet approachable.  It’s also a bit masculine and a great alternative to a toile print.

romeRome fabric is printed in taupe/indigo, charcoal,  charcoal/linen, olive, red,  and chalk/linen. Wallpaper is also available.   Check out Style Library for more selections.

Fashion: Ten Winter Must Have

wintermusthave

We adopted a rescue pet, a sweet  Shih-Tzu mix, Wookie, over the Thanksgiving holiday.  We like to take long morning walks.  Lately, I’m finding it harder to walk her with the cold temperature.  It’s time to get serious and get warmer outerwear.  These are some of my winter must have.  Wookie is a furball.  I think she needs some cute outerwear, too.  Have any shop recommendations for Wookie?

On My Radar: Damask

AMYKAREN1
HEWN Showroom

I’m happy to be feeling better after battling the flu during Christmas.  Happy to be back and getting excited for the New Year.  As I research fabrics for projects, I came across some Damask textiles.   It’s a go to fabric for traditional style and old world charm interiors.  I think it’s worth taking a closer look at the many choices in Damask for fabrics and wallpapers.  Damask is classic and rich looking and comes in silks, soft velvets, linen and cotton.   Large scale or small scale, as a focal point or accent, Damask is on my radar.

Have you explored Thibaut wallpaper and textiles?  They have the most comfortable furniture, too.  I sampled a great selection of their furniture in their showroom at High Point.

Simply put, Damask is timeless. Would you consider it for upholstery and wall treatments?  Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas 2014 Window Displays

NYC in December is beautiful!  Earlier this week I drove into the city to see the holiday window displays.  Oh,  what fun we had.  I felt like a kid in the Big Apple taking it all in, the Rockefeller Christmas tree, Bergdorf Goodman, Harry Winston, FAO Schwartz.   I love New York at Christmas!

“Early this year, the creative departments at Bergdorf Goodman selected a one-word holiday theme for 2014: Inspired. We found this particular word itself to be inspiring. It was all we needed to launch a set of windows celebrating the arts—after all, isn’t art the product of inspiration?

We decided to base each window on a major art form, drawing equally from the fine arts, performing arts and applied arts. For our main windows, we settled on literature, architecture, theater, painting, music, dance, sculpture and film.

Old Spirits and Traditions

This time of year is about  family and traditions.  We will be hosting get-togethers for family and friends this holiday season. Growing up my mom made a holiday sangria for all to enjoy.   Keeping with tradition, I will be sharing my signature sangria recipe served in a vintage punch bowl.    The table will be set in festive red and white to set the mood for a memorable meal.

punch bowl Celebrate the season with this holiday’s favorite color, red. Get the look with these vintage pieces from Chairish and luxurious table linens by Kim Seybert.

For the centerpiece, a large bouquet of red carnations (my mom’s favorite flower)  are mixed with red roses to add texture.

  3. 1/2 cup fresh orange juice

  7. 1/4 cup Cointreau or Triple Sec
