One Room Challenge Week 5 – In With The Old

In with the old.  Classic details never go out of style.  Remember the vintage chest, after further examination,  it turns out that it is a small dining room buffet or bar cabinet.  Although the piece is old and the back wood panel paper thin,  the hand painted tortoise finish and details are beautiful.

The back needs TLC.  I think fabric or wallpaper on the inside of the shelves would brighten up the back. On the floors,  I’m using a gorgeous, contemporary Japanese design hand knotted wool rug from Doris Leslie Blau.

There is much to do.  The small windows in the room need a valance.  A stool will be painted and covered in Lee Jofa fabric and art hug on the wall.   I also want to add some overhead lighting. I’m a little behind, but plan to be finished next week. To view more week five projects in progress, please visit the One Room Challenge Wednesday featured designers and Guest Participants who tackle the six week challenge.  Thanks for stopping by.
