Country At Home: Living Room House Tour

Hard to believe a year has gone by since we moved into our country house.  The interesting thing about this house is that it is the spec house for a 50 and over community development.  It has been an interesting experience.  I thought I would want to downsize, but just the opposite is true.  We have learned that we are not there yet.  We love having large family gatherings and want more room. The house has an open feel and the landlord left window treatments and pastel walls, I managed to design around them.  Here is a little house tour of our living room. changes1 The feeling of the house is light and airy.  Rather than fight the pastel colors, I incorporated blue and white pottery in every room.  The colors work well. DSC00044 A mix of pillows from high and low sources add color. IMG_0012 I took a little trip to Eddie Ross’ estate sale and was lucky to find Lucite candle holders and match holder. changes2 The house has a French country feel.  I incorporated a French chair and pillow I found at HomeGoods.  A vintage garden stool from Lambertville serves as a side table. changes3 Vintage chairs, Lucite table and pillows make for a cozy corner near the window to work.  The pillows are from Madcap Cottage. Our family has enjoyed many celebrations in this space.  Nothing is too precious.  We use our living room and enjoy gathering around the fireplace come autumn.  It was fun decorating this home with vintage finds, HomeGoods and a few of finds from my designer friends. Thanks for stopping by. ivy
